Brian Edward is a cultural administrator, arts educator, performing and literary artist, director and playwright, an avid scholar of art and film, and a proud Pittsburgh native. He is the author of several produced plays including the nationally acclaimed touring musical Amish Burlesque, and has been a featured guest lecturer for the Berkshire Playwrights Festival. Locally he has performed with The REP, 12 Peers Theater, Little Lake Theater, Pittsburgh Opera, and The Pittsburgh New Works Festival, where he was named Outstanding Leading Actor in 2011 and 2012. Brian was named among the top supporting actors in Pittsburgh by the Post Gazette in 2001, and among the top leading actors in 2002. He has conceived and hosted several major cultural events including the 2006 “Savoir Affair, ” alongside Sara Moulton, Executive Chef of Gourmet Magazine and host of Food Network’s show Sara’s Secrets, as well as Antiques Roadshow appraiser and former President of Christie’s East, Kathleen Guzman. He has also been a featured presenter at Nemacolin Woodlands’ “Royal Reception, ” hosted annually by Robin Leach. Among his published works is Wright Perspectives, a detailed look at the influence of architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania, including interviews with architect and Wright student David Merritt, Bernadine Hagan, and The Lord Palumbo of Walbrook. He has emceed numerous charitable events and film festivals, and is Host and Executive Producer of ‘Burgh Vivant, Pittsburgh’s source for arts and culture coverage, where he has conducted on camera interviews with novelist Jackie Collins, Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, Streisand Hello, Dolly! co-star Judith Knaiz, Jim Henson daughter Heather Henson, actor Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), television chef and restauranteur Lidia Bastianich, and numerous Pittsburgh entertainers, entrepreneurs, and newsmakers.
